Why Can’t Anyone Believe Mel Gibson’s Mentally Ill? I think it’s a continuing signal of stigma that even when mental health professionals were interviewed — only by the NYT and ABC-TV as far as I can tell — Gibson’s publicly stated diagnosis has never been mentioned. And this column was only accepted by The Iris, the local NAMI advocacy newsletter.
